FRIENDS OF NORTHWEST DANE SENIOR SERICES GROUP The NWDSS Board is considering developing a Friends group. At this time we are looking for input from our consumers, families and volunteers regarding this possible new venture. The Friends group would be an opportunity to recruit members to be a part of our organization and to assist in the mission of NWDSS. Assisting could be done by volunteering in any capacity such as assistance with programs, special events and fundraising. The Friends group could include financial donors of the organization.
Overall the goal is to make the agency a well-recognized local senior service organization. If you are interested or would like to share thoughts on this new venture please contact NWDSS Executive Director, Dee Suchomel at 767-3757 x 222 or you can email her at

. CAN YOU GET HELP TO PAY FOR YOUR MEDICARE PREMIUMS? There have been some eligibility changes as of January 1 that could mean you may now qualify for Medicare subsidy that could save over $1000 per year in Part B premiums and even earn you an automatic subsidy for drug coverage premiums and co-pays as well.If you are on Medicare or know someone who is and you are concerned about whether they might qualify, please call our Case Manager, Deanna Topper at 767-3757 X 223. CAREGIVERS JOURNEY This is an ongoing support group held the 4 Wednesday of the month from 1-2:30pm. Caregivers Journey group will meet monthly at Girlies Manor in Mt. Horeb, 104 Lincoln Court. This is open to everyone. If you are a paid caregiver, a family member, or a friend, please join us. Rita Stanton and Joan Pape are the facilitators. ADVANCE DIRECTIVE With the recent discussions around health care reform raise issues of concerns to all seniors. We would like to remind everyone of any age to be sure they have an advance healthcare directive in place. Now is the time to talk about your wishes with your family, friends and healthcare provider, and then complete a WRITTEN ADVANCE DIRECTIVE (healthcare power of attorney and “living will”). Making difficult and sensitive decisions before a crisis arises allows you time to contemplate your decisions, consult your physician and your loved ones, and gather information that will help you make informed choices. You can obtain the appropriate forms and help with completing them from our Case Manager, Deanna. You can reach her at 767-3757 X 223.
